The UK Chinook and Merlin fleets are heavily committed to operations world-wide as well as contingent military tasks and continuation training. Both aircraft are fitted with the Pratt & Whitney Titan T62 which is a gas turbine engine used as an auxiliary power unit (generator) for several types of military helicopter as well as turboshaft main propulsion unit on light civilian helicopters.
